Because this article was so popular, I thought it deserved another posting for the Spring season.
After thinking about it, I came up with Six Reasons the Gym SUCKS:
1.) Everyone else is going to the gym. And they suck.
Did you ever notice that when you look around the gym, everybody is doing the same thing? Like so many sheep, mindlessly plodding away with the misinformation from fitness magazines. People just go to the gym and do whatever everybody else is doing.
Have you ever noticed that when you walk into the gym and you see the same women on the same treadmills, doing the same 4 mile run, that they STILL look the same as they did 5 months ago.

Hello Campers…this article was sent out to you last year and I thought it was really inspiring that we need to post it on our new blog. Dana also writes a good paragraph at the end. As always, we truly thank you for choosing Epic Boot Camp and we are proud that we are able to help you live a healthy life and give you that “me” time. Keep up the great work!
When people ask me what I “do” and I tell them that I am a personal
trainer, they automatically start spewing excuses as to why they are
out of shape and unhappy with their bodies. I don’t have to ask a
thing. I am suddenly a shrink. Personal facts surface quickly and
without reserve. Mind you, all I have said is that I am a personal
trainer. Suddenly I’m their life long best friend. “I don’t have time…
I have kids… I go to school… my job wears me out… I just have no
energy… I used to workout…” I’ve heard every excuse in the book.

Thanks to a complex web of farm subsidies, chemical engineering, and plain old evil, 21st-century food companies have actually made it cheaper for consumers to eat processed junk instead of healthy, nutritious staples such as fruit, veggies, and lean meats. It would take a book or two to explain how they pulled it off. Instead, I’ve opted to write this short manifesto: a list of ways you can beat “The Man” by eating healthier and saving money at the same time. Who’s with me? ìViva la revolución!

- Buy in bulk. There’s usually economy in volume. There’s a problem, though. If you’re only feeding two people, what do you do with the other 22 chicken breasts you just bought at Costco®? Simple. You divide them into 11 freezer bags and freeze ‘em to be thawed out as needed. The same works for many fruits and veggies, except maybe leafy greens. Frozen lettuce? Not so much.

Interval Strength Training For Serious Fat Loss
By Josh Henkin
Let’s face it, fat loss is generally a primary goal for many programs. Athlete or non-athlete alike, people would like to be leaner, stronger, and more athletic. However, if there is one thing popular media promotes and most people desire is that lean athletic body.
Often though we are led to believe that strength training and fat loss don’t work together. I have heard coaches and trainers tell their clients to perform “cardio” as the best method of losing fat. Generally this includes what is known as long duration, low intensity exercise. An example would include performing a 50% effort on a treadmill for a duration of 45 minutes.

10 Fit Foods for Fall
By Joe Wilkes
We all know the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables. They contain vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other nutrients to keep our bodies running in peak condition. Study after study shows that people who consume the most fruits and veggies are less at risk for a host of illnesses, including heart disease and cancer. And so, farmers’ markets have started cropping up all over, and supermarkets have begun expanding their produce sections to accommodate the increased demand. In some places, fast-food restaurants are giving way to community garden plots. Even the White House lawn has been tilled and planted.

The thing about working out on a Wednesday and then not working out again till Tuesday is that it stinks. Now you know I tried really hard to fit in long walks with the kids, and doing what I could to stay active, but no workout compares to the boot camp workout. Throw in a bachelorette party and staying out to 3 am on Saturday and you get the picture. So getting back into the swing of things on Tuesday was rough!
Jacob started the week out by basically telling us week 3 means no mercy, shorter breaks, longer reps, and we better keep up. So you can pretty much imagine that Tuesdays workout just about killed me. By Wednesday, I honestly thought I wouldn’t make it through- it was so cold, so dark, I could barely breathe. Thursday was more of the same. Those damn burpees!! WHY do you do this to yourself Joy (I know this is what you are thinking!) The thing is- no matter how hard it is, or how tired, or sore, or cold you are, you are doing for YOU.

Interval training is the hottest thing in cardio these days, for good reasons. The fitness and fat-loss results you can get are more impressive than those you get doing “steady-state” cardio (in which you move at an unchanging pace), and your workouts can be shorter, too. That’s because intervals let you exercise at a higher intensity than you could just about any other way. Interval training is also a lot easier to learn and do than many people think. Keep reading to see how you can Supercharge Your Cardio: 4 Simple Ways to Boost Your Intervals and your results!
INSANITY’s Interval Training
All it requires is alternating periods of moderate activity with bursts of all-out exertion during the same exercise session. And since those higher-intensity sprints are relatively brief, you may hardly even notice the extra effort.
